Greetings From The President and Members

of  the Liberty County Branch NAACP

We take this opportunity to thank God for his many blessings. As we embark on a New Year, we extend a Happy New Year to all.  We equally thank all of the citizens and members who attended our forums, visited our workshops and embraced our cause during 2007.  This new year of 2008 holds a lot of promise and potential.  Change is truly in the air.  As we enter the threshold of our new beginnings, the Liberty County Branch NAACP will continue with a renewed sense of duty, to provide proactive leadership in dealing with the issues that confront our community.  Social, economic, and political injustice will not be tolerated.  We will achieve our objectives by engaging in dialog with our public officials, leaders and the community.  This will enable us to educate one another and address the concerns of the community. Racism and discrimination are two of the most divisive and persistent social evils that plague not only our community, but the world.  Dr. Francys Johnson defined it best when he said, “Racism is the outward manifestation of values deliberately designed to structure privilege for the purpose of social advantage over scarce resources. Properly understanding racism is the key to developing public policies to defeat it.” Through civil rights activism and social justice advocacy, we shall be victorious.  We are inviting all concerned citizens to become agents of change within the community.  Join this fine “working” organization.  Please bring your mind, talent, time, and commitment and help us to serve the community.  In the words of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “What affects one man directly, affects another man indirectly.”  Come on “Liberty” step up to the plate and make a difference.
